Celebration of Student Writing

What IS the Celebration of Student Writing?

The Celebration of Student Writing is like a Science Fair for writing! During the spring semester, composition and WID classes come together to showcase projects that highlight different aspects of writing students have learned that semester. This is a fun, interactive day filled with activity, props, games, and learning. CSW has turned out to be a great place to not only learn a new trick for revision or brainstorming, but also see what's happening in other writing classes across campus.

When and where is CSW?

This year, CSW will take place on Thursday, April 17th, from 12-3pm in Grandfather and Roan Mountain Ballrooms in Plemmons Student Union.

Okay. But what does it look like?

How do I participate?

If you are an instructor interested in having your class present their writing at CSW, please fill out the form in the menu to the left to secure your spot. Please include the number of tables you need (usually 1 per class) and if you need to be by an outlet. We will try our best to accomodate all requests.

You will need to secure all AV and tech equipment yourself, and you can check most of this out through Educational Media Services. Space is limited at CSW, and we want all who are interested to be able to participate.

If you have any questions, please contact Rachel Robinson, assistant director of the University Writing Center, or Dr. Kim Gunter, director of the Composition Program, and we hope to see you there!
